Risposta rapida
To compress a JPG, upload it to ezimagetools.com, choose how hard to squeeze it, and download the smaller file. A JPG is already compressed, so compressing it again means re-encoding it at a lower quality setting. The width and height never change — only the file size does. It is free, needs no account, and your upload is deleted within an hour.

What a JPG is
JPG (also written JPEG) is the format almost every camera and website uses. It saves space by discarding the detail your eye is least likely to notice, which is why it cannot store transparency and why every re-save costs a little quality.
What we do to your file
We re-encode the picture with an optimised encoder, strip out the camera and location metadata you probably did not mean to publish, and convert the colour profile to standard sRGB so it looks the same everywhere. The picture itself is never cropped or resized.
Domande frequenti
How does compressing a JPG work?
A JPG is already compressed, so compressing it again means re-encoding it at a lower quality setting. Between 75 and 85 the loss stays invisible on a photograph while the file roughly halves. Below about 60 you start to see blocky squares in smooth areas like sky and skin.
Will compressing my JPG make it look worse?
Not at the Recommended setting. JPG is a lossy format, so something is always discarded, but the encoder starts with the detail your eye is least able to see. Push it to Smallest file on an image with large flat areas and you may start to notice banding.
How much smaller will my JPG get?
A photo usually drops by 60 to 80% at the Recommended level. Pictures full of fine detail — foliage, gravel, hair — compress least, because there is little the encoder can safely simplify.
Does compressing a JPG change its dimensions?
No. Compression changes only the number of bytes the file takes up. The width and height in pixels are untouched. Use the Resize tool if you want fewer pixels, and do that first — resizing then compressing beats compressing alone.
Can I compress a JPG to an exact size in KB?
Yes. Enter a target size and the compressor searches for the highest quality setting that still fits under your limit. That is more reliable than guessing at a quality number, especially when an upload form has a hard cap.
Is it safe to compress JPG files online?
Yes. Your file is processed on our server and deleted automatically within one hour. We never look at it and there is no account to create.
