Convert HEIC to PNG

HEIC is the reason an iPhone photo gets rejected by a website, refuses to open on Windows, or lands in someone's inbox as a file they cannot view. Converting it makes the same photo work everywhere, with no visible change. Convert to PNG when you need transparency, or when the picture is a screenshot, a logo or a diagram — the sharp edges in those images are exactly what a lossy format smears.

No further quality is lost. PNG stores exactly what it is given, so nothing more is discarded. It cannot bring back what HEIC already threw away either, so expect the PNG to look identical to the HEIC while taking up considerably more space.

The width and height in pixels stay exactly the same — only the way those pixels are stored changes, which is what changes the file size. A PNG is usually larger than the HEIC, because it discards nothing. Use the Resize tool if you want to change the dimensions too.
